Karol Rzepkowski of Johnsons on Reaching the Consumer

Karol Rzepkowski is the Managing Director of Johnson Sustainable Seafoods (JSS), the Shetland-based company that produces the world’s first sustainable organic, farmed cod. Karol will address delegates in April as part of our "Reaching the Consumer" session and we look forward to hearing Karol's views on how we can engage the public with positive messages about farmed seafood.

Johnson Sustainable Seafoods is a high-tech operation carried out by one of the most qualified teams working in aquaculture. It is pioneering a new route in aquaculture and is committed to developing new research and maintaining its position at the forefront of sustainable and organic fish farming.

Karol joined JSS in 2002 and shortly afterwards led a management buy-out of the company. He has since led its groundbreaking move into the production of organic cod, turning it in to a very important and original aquaculture company.

JSS produces the NO CATCH…JUST COD brand that is sold in Sainsbury’s, Tesco and Booths stores across the country and also supplies the white table cloth market with Johnson Organic Cod, which is available in hotels and leading restaurants such as OXO Tower and Plateau.

The company has won no less that 9 awards this year, including the “Supreme Award” at the Scottish Food and Drink Excellence Awards.
