Respected figure thanks colleagues for support
Jim Buchanan has been nominated by industry colleagues for a special Aquaculture Today Fit for the Future award. Mr Buchanan has been shortlisted for his contribution to aquaculture, having played an important role as secretary to the British Marine Finfish Association for many years. When we contacted him with the news, he was delighted:
"Thank you for the nomination which gives me the greatest pleasure. I have been continuously associated with the Scottish Aquaculture industry for nigh on thirty years in a variety of posts; first as Technical Director of the Scottish Salmon Growers Association, then as Executive Director of the Association of Scottish Shellfish Growers and latterly with the British Marine Finfish Association (formerly the British Halibut Association) for a decade as Administrator and company secretary. I want to thank all my former colleagues and associates for their unfailing support in the good times and the not so good and to wish them the very best of luck in the future. It has been a privilege to work with them and with the many marine scientists who have done so much good science to the benefit of the industry."
