Donal Maguire's presentation will briefly review past and current initiatives in Offshore Aquaculture Development. In the course of doing this he will draw some conclusions from those experiences and use them as examples of what has been a fruitful approach and what has not, in terms of moving the overall process along.

Based on what has been successful, he will then outline what are, by his analysis, the priority next steps that should be taken and then he will put forward some suggestions as to how these actions might be undertaken in a collective manner.

He will move to close his presentation by briefly outlining what the key elements of the Irish national programme for offshore aquaculture development will be, over the next several years and show how these efforts will dovetail with and feed into the international scene.

The presentation will conclude with an invitation to all present and to the wider sector to participate in a number of key initiatives for the common good, which will be designed to put greater impetus into the drive to make offshore aquaculture a meaningful reality.
